COMMON QUESTIONS

The first time you use the tool, your browser downloads the AI model (about 45 MB, usually 20-60 seconds depending on your connection). After that, the model is cached in your browser - every future image processes in seconds without any download. The download only happens once per device/browser.

Correct - the AI runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Only the model files come from a CDN (one-time download). Your image data stays on your device throughout the entire process. You can disconnect from the internet after the model loads and the tool will still work.

Yes. The AI generates an alpha mask that gets applied to your original full-resolution image. So a 4K input gives you a 4K transparent PNG output. The RGB pixels are never touched - only the transparency channel is changed. No compression, no watermarks, no quality loss.

Works great: people, product photography, animals, food, vehicles, and most things with clear subject/background separation.

Trickier: images with very fine hair detail, transparent or glass objects, motion-blurred subjects, or photos where subject color is similar to background. Results will still be usable but may need touch-up in an editor.

The tool itself is free to use, but the underlying RMBG-1.4 model has its own license terms (developed by BRIA AI). The model is free for non-commercial use. For high-volume commercial workflows, BRIA offers commercial licensing. For occasional use, social media posts, personal projects, or hobby work - you're fine.

AI inference is computationally heavy. Desktops and modern laptops process a typical image in 2-8 seconds. Mobile phones take 15-45 seconds depending on model and image size. The tool automatically downscales very large images (over 4096px) to keep processing manageable on weaker devices, while still applying the resulting mask at full resolution.
