COMMON QUESTIONS

Meta tags are HTML elements placed in the <head> of a page that describe its content to search engines and social platforms. The title and description control what appears in Google results; OG tags control how your link looks when shared on social media. Getting them right is one of the most impactful basic SEO actions you can take.

Google typically displays 155–165 characters of a meta description. Aim for 120–160 characters. If it's too long, Google will truncate it with "…". If it's too short, Google may pull text from the page body instead. The character bar in the tool shows you where you stand.

Yes, ideally. Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and others read OG tags. X (Twitter) reads its own twitter:* tags — though it also falls back to OG if Twitter tags are missing. For maximum compatibility across every platform, include both sets.

Google officially ignores the keywords meta tag and has done since 2009. Some other search engines (like Yandex) may still consider it. It won't hurt you to include it, but don't expect it to influence Google rankings — focus your effort on the title and description instead.

The recommended OG image size is 1200 × 630 px at a 1.91:1 aspect ratio. Facebook minimum is 200 × 200 px but smaller images get a tiny thumbnail. For Twitter's large card (summary_large_image), the same 1200 × 630 works perfectly. Serve images over HTTPS.

noindex tells search engines not to include the page in their index (it won't appear in results). follow tells them they can still follow the links on the page. Use noindex, follow for paginated archive pages, thank-you pages, or admin pages you don't want indexed but whose outbound links should still pass authority.
