WEBP TO
PNG

Convert .webp images back to universally supported .png — lossless output, transparency preserved, batch up to 20 files. Works in your browser without any upload.

Lossless PNG Output
PNG is a lossless format — every pixel from the decoded WebP is preserved exactly. No compression artifacts added, no color shifts. Perfect for editing, archiving, or printing.
Transparency Preserved
WebP supports both lossy-with-alpha and lossless images. Any transparent areas in your WebP are carried through to the PNG output — alpha channel intact.
Batch Convert
Drop up to 20 .webp files at once. Each converts in seconds — much faster than HEIC or RAW formats. Download all as a single ZIP when done.
Instant — No Plugins
Every modern browser decodes WebP natively. No WASM, no libraries, no waiting — your images are converted using the browser's built-in image decoder, instantly.
ZIP Download
One file? Direct .png download. Multiple files? Packed into a ZIP with original filenames — just with .png instead of .webp.
100% Private
WebP decoding happens on-device using the Canvas API. Your images are never sent to a server. Safe for personal photos, client assets, or anything confidential.

HOW IT WORKS

WebP is natively supported by all modern browsers. The conversion uses the built-in image decoder — no plugins, no waiting, no quality loss.

01
Drop your WebP files
Select one or up to 20 .webp files. You might have them from a website download, a design tool export, or a CMS that serves WebP for web performance.
02
Browser decodes & re-encodes
Each WebP is decoded by the browser's native image engine — the same engine that renders images on web pages. The decoded pixels are drawn onto a canvas and saved as a lossless PNG Blob. Transparent pixels are preserved exactly.
03
Download your PNGs
One file → direct PNG download. Multiple files → one ZIP archive with all converted images, original filenames kept.

COMMON QUESTIONS

WebP is a modern Google format designed for web delivery — small file sizes, fast loading. But many tools don't accept WebP: older image editors, Office documents, WhatsApp, some printers, and legacy software. PNG is supported everywhere. Convert when you need to edit in Photoshop, attach to an email, print, or share with someone whose software doesn't understand WebP.

Yes. WebP supports an alpha channel (transparency) in both its lossy and lossless modes. When converted via canvas, transparent pixels remain transparent in the PNG output. The canvas default is fully transparent, so nothing is filled in unless the original WebP had a specific background.

The PNG output is lossless — every pixel decoded from the WebP is stored exactly in the PNG. However, if the source WebP was already lossy-compressed (most WebPs from websites are), those compression artifacts are already baked in and will appear in the PNG too. Converting back to PNG cannot recover detail that lossy compression already discarded.

Only the first frame is captured. Animated WebP files contain multiple frames — drawing to a canvas only captures the frame visible at the moment the image loads, which is always frame 0. If you need all frames extracted, you'd need a dedicated animated WebP tool or ImageMagick on the command line.

Yes, almost always. WebP's compression is significantly more efficient than PNG — a 100 KB WebP photo might become a 400–900 KB PNG. This is expected and correct. WebP was designed for compact delivery; PNG is designed for lossless fidelity. If file size matters, keep the WebP for web use and only convert to PNG when a tool or workflow requires it.

No. The conversion uses the Canvas API entirely within your browser tab. Your images are read from your hard drive, decoded in memory, and saved back to your disk as PNG — nothing is transmitted over the network. Only an anonymous "+1 conversion" count reaches the server. Safe for personal photos, client work, or anything private.
